History Colorado provided the funding the the expansion of the Ute Indian Museum in Montrose, Colorado. The project was to give the existing museum a face lift as well as an interior remodel and new addition, all within the Green Build guide lines of LEED Certification. Most of the existing fixtures and amenities that were not to be re-used were recycled or salvaged for re-purposing. The use of solar power along with the geothermal design were implemented for energy efficiency. resourceful planning for the landscaping will effectively reduce the water consumption by 50% and the project used as many local renewable resources as possible. the lodge pole pines for the Ute elements of the landscaping/park areas were selected from a local logging company.
